Predictability of Scrub Typhus Incidences Time Series in Thailand

چکیده
Scrub typhus, an infectious disease caused by a bacterium transmitted “chigger” mites, constitutes public health problem in Thailand. Predicting epidemic peaks would allow implementing preventive measures locally. This study analyses the predictability of time series incidence scrub typhus aggregated at provincial level. After stationarizing series, evaluation Hurst exponents indicates provinces where epidemiological dynamics present long memory and are predictable. The predictive performances ARIMA (autoregressive integrated moving average model), ARFIMA fractionally average) fractional Brownian motion models evaluated. results constitute reference level for data this zoonosis.

Scrub Typhus Outbreak, Northern Thailand, 2006–2007
During a scrub typhus outbreak investigation in Thailand, 4 isolates of O. tsutsugamushi were obtained and established in culture. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 56-kDa type-specific antigen gene demonstrated that the isolates fell into 4 genetic clusters, 3 of which had been previously reported and 1 that represents a new genotype.

Scrub typhus is not one of the more commonly encountered diseases in travelers returning from Asia, but it deserves more consideration in view of its severity and the availability of specific chemotherapy and chemoprophylaxis. We describe a case of scrub typhus that was associated with coma and multiorgan failure in a traveler returning to the United States from Thailand. The diagnosis was made...

Investigation of a scrub typhus outbreak in Thailand during September 2013 found that 9.1% of Thai soldiers and 11.1% of residents living in areas surrounding training sites had antibodies against the causative agent, Orientia tsutsugamushi. Sequence analysis of O. tsutsugamushi from rodents and chiggers identified 7 genogroups and 3 genotypes.

Himachal Pradesh state of India is situated in the outer Himalayan ranges. During the rainy season, several cases of acute febrile illness of unknown origin occurred. Orientia tsutsugamushi was identified as the causative agent by microimmunofluorescence and PCR. Two new genotypes of O. tsutsugamushi were identified in the region.
